Hi all! Just a quick check in before the weekend...
Today's "Photo Friday" feature is of the incredible Dame Evelyn Glennie, a living legend of percussion who's joining us in concert next season. When she travels to Albany in March 2011, she will perform composer John Corigliano's thrilling Percussion Concerto, Conjurer.
Take a look at a video of Evelyn rehearsing this piece at the Cabrillo Festival -- [link]
Evelyn's an incredible musician - born in Scotland, she now travels the world presenting over 100 performances a year. Though deaf, Evelyn 'feels' the music through her body - still hearing the music. Learn more about Dame Evelyn Glennie at her website here.
Be sure to see Evelyn perform in March with the ASO & subscribe to the our 80th Anniversary Season here -- as you get 50% off single ticket prices if you're a new subscriber!
Though it's still pretty new (and still has that new website smell), we're constantly working to improve & update the content & usability of our website to give you the best experience possible!
I wanted to let you all know to check out the newest additions to our website -- special pages for our three "Resident Composers" that will join us throughout next season!
Each page has a wealth of information to get you fully informed of their collaborations with us in advance of their visits next year, with links to their sites and opportunities to listen to their music. Special thanks to Brian Haller for updating these - who's helping out at the ASO this summer with a great number of things!
Don't forget to check us out on facebook, twitter and
