The Argus String Quartet: LIVE at the American Music Festival
As artist in residence at the Albany Symphony's American Music Festival, the Argus String Quartet will bring their unique form of chamber music to the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall on Saturday, June 3, 2017.
Argus believes in honoring the foundational chamber music traditions, while also pushing
forward into the world of inventive and contemporary music. Since 2013, the Argus String Quartet has performed all over the United States and abroad--from the Hear Now Music Festival in Los Angeles to Carnegie Hall in New York to Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in Amsterdam. During its 2016.17 season, Argus began a year-long residency as the Ernst Stiefel
Quartet-in-Residence at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in Katonah, NY,
and was selected to premiere works from Kronos Quartet’s “Fifty for the Future”
commissioning project at Carnegie Hall.
Argus is known for its “…rare level of innovation” (New Classic LA) —and is currently
presenting a program of works by our old friends Sleeping Giant, the collective of six
brilliant composers who always surprised and thrilled us during their two-year residency
with the Albany Symphony.
This unique recital will feature new and recent works by Christopher Theofanidis, 2017 American Music Festival Composer-in-Residence.
