Every year we enjoy going into classrooms to introduce young people to the instruments of the orchestra. Our musicians take pleasure in presenting their instrument in fun and innovative ways. This year we have taken our Symphony in Our Schools program virtual! Check out this video by Eric Berlin. If you are interested in finding out more, sign up for Symphony Kids on our website.

The Hill We Climb by Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman was one of the most stunning moments of yesterday's Presidential Inauguration ceremony. Swept away by the musical as much as the poetical beauty of the reading, we are reminded how art transcends the lines we draw: poem as a written art form; poetry as performance; poetry as music; and poetry set to and/or inspiring music. Poet Laureate Gorman exhorts us to transcend other boundaries -- the lines we draw between ourselves to come together as a nation.

We are striving to forge a union with purpose
To compose a country committed to all cultures, colors, characters and
conditions of man
And so we lift our gazes not to what stands between us
but what stands before us
We close the divide because we know, to put our future first,
we must first put our differences aside
