The Albany Symphony Is a Member of NAAS!

What Is It?

The National Alliance for Audition Support is an unprecedented national initiative to increase diversity in American orchestras.  Its work includes providing musicians a customized combination of mentoring, audition preparation, financial support and audition previews. The Albany Symphony has been an orchestral partner member of NAAS since its start in 2018 and sends representatives to listen to the Sphinx Orchestral Partner Auditions and to serve on the work groups supporting NAAS's work.

Want to learn even more about our upcoming guest composer and narrator? The Times Union just released an article with interviews on both of them! The article looks at Tyson Davis' beginnings as a musician and composer, as well as the intricate work that Lucy Fitz Gibbon has been preparing for this concert. Check out the article here!

The Lunar New Year

This year the Lunar New Year is celebrated on February 12th and this year is the year of the Metal Ox!  This means this year is to be one of hard work and change, as well as an emphasis on any industries involved with metal (ranging from jewelry to needles).  The holiday, also referred to as the Spring Festival, marks the first new moon of the lunisolar calendar.  Although its usual and exciting festivities cannot ensue as normal, we here at the Albany Symphony would like to wish you all a happy holiday.  May 2021 bring good fortune to you all!
