Symphony Spotlight: Musician Monday

Albany Symphony violinist Funda Cizmecioglu performs Telemann's Fantasia for Solo Violin No. 1, live from her NYC apartment.

Studies in Hope: Frederick Douglass, Mvt. II: Lamp Post
Composed by Andre Myers. Commissioned by Dogs of Desire. This recording is performed by Albany Symphony, Andre Myers, two student soloists, and the Albany High School Chamber Choir (under the direction of Brendan Hoffman). Conducted by David Alan Miller.

We at the Albany Symphony stand in solidarity with communities of color against the systemic racism that has created an everyday reality of intolerance, inequity, and violence for many people across the nation and in our community.  We support the right of individuals and communities to engage in peaceful protest and add our voice to call attention to the horrific death of George Floyd and the pattern of racial injustice that tragically has become all too familiar.

#ICYMI: Ask David (Almost) Anything

In last week's episode of Ask David (Almost) Anything, he speaks candidly about the symphony's diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts, as well as the efforts of the larger orchestral community.
