"Young Voices of Albany" An Oratorio

Music is my connection to the world. It guides me to understand my place in relation to others and challenges me to make clear the things I do not understand. I imagine that music is a meeting place at which all people can converse about their unique differences and common stories.
— Jessie Montgomery

The Albany Symphony’s Composer-Educator, Jessie Montgomery, leads a group of 20 students from two Albany City Public Schools, Giffen Elementary and New Scotland Elementary, in a performance featuring original music, improvisation, and poetry created by participating 5th and 6th grade composers-performers.

Jessie Montgomery is a New York-based violinist, composer and music educator. Recognized by the American Composers Orchestra as an important emerging composer, Jessie's music has been featured on national radio by Q2 Music and NPR and is performed regularly by PUBLIQuartet, the Catalyst Quartet and the Sphinx Virtuosi.

As part of her residency with the Albany Symphony, Jessie will work closely with student composers and premiere a new work at the American Music Festival Concert on June 11th.

Admission By Invitation Only.
