Co-Presented by:
new york Capital region's orchestra featured on national stage
The Albany Symphony is one of 4 ensembles nationwide selected to participate in this year’s John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts SHIFT Festival. The Symphony’s theme, “The River Flows Through Us,” focuses on the power of water to connect communities, generate energy and infrastructure, and transport us through time, space, and art.
The SHIFT Festival’s goal is to celebrate the vitality, identity, and extraordinary artistry of orchestras by creating an immersive “spotlight” festival experience, particularly highlighting contemporary works by living American composers.
The Albany Symphony SHIFT project includes two full orchestra performances in both the Capital Region and in Washington, D.C., a launch event in Albany, performances by the Dogs of Desire new music ensemble, and a showcase of “Songwriter Idol,” the Symphony’s educational residency program.
A travel package and schedule of special events and insider tours for Albany Symphony fans who wish to travel to Washington for the performances will soon be announced.
SHIFT is generously supported by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Washington Performing Arts.
