Symphony Spotlight - 1/14/21

Symphony Spotlight

Monday, January 18 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and we hope you find some time to reflect on his legacy. Keep reading to find a clip from our "Tchaikovsky Serenade" concert, news from Governor Cuomo's State of the State 2021 address, and more.

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday 1/18, we wanted to share this clip of Jessie Montgomery's Banner, performed January 9, 2021 at Universal Preservation Hall. At 1:20, you can hear a theme from Lift Every Voice and Sing (the Black National Anthem) being played by the double basses.

We applaud Governor Cuomo's initiative, New York Arts Revival and are excited to be a participant. Watch this short clip above, or click here to learn more about the project from the State of the State 2021 address.
